Kids Bathroom

When we moved in we knew that we needed to do a few projects because of either non function or because it was really out of date.  The boys bathroom fell into both categories.  The tub needed to be addressed and the wallpaper had already been peeled off in most spots.  Just the shiny part of off though, so all of the rest of the paper had to be taken off.   We figured we would do the whole thing while we were at it.  We started with the wallpaper.   I HATE wallpaper.  Not because it does not look nice, but because it is the worst thing to have to do in a reno.  Of all the things we have done, it has been the most labor intensive and took a really long time.  After we got the walls taken care of, it was onto the floors.  That was more difficult that we thought it would be as well.  We also found spots where there had been some pretty good water damage, so Nick's dad, Ralph, came down and helped teach us how to pull out old subfloor and replace it with new stuff.  We looked around for a new vanity for the boys, but because it was an odd size it was going to be expensive to replace, so we decided to make it a little more modern, but leave it intact.  We replaced the toilet, and had the tub painted white.  We saw some cracks at the bottom of the shower, so we knew we either had to replace it or fix it, we opted for the fix and someday if we want to change it we can, but for now it works.  This project was spread out over about a month, but it was done pretty much when school started.  The twins had to give up taking baths for that month because we did not want to use the tub.  Tony was not a fan of showers at the beginning, but he was ok with it at the end of that time.  He is happy to have his bath back again.

The vanity had a lovely blue marble looking top. :)

The floor next to the tub was pretty rotted out
 Redoing the vanity ourselves
This is what was behind the big mirror in the bathroom.  So pretty.

The toilet had pretty bad water damage under it too

 New subfloor
 Ready to be floored
The flooring was pretty easy put down and it is waterproof.

Starting to come together
All finished
We did a little bit of original art work too.  Each sailboat is one of the boys feet.

I live in a boy world.  I found these set up like this one morning. :)
