Tree's and a Couple Other Things

We had some tree's that were very large and blocking the front windows in our house.  The potential for bugs and critters climbing our trees onto the house and the potential for it to fall on the house in a bad storm made the decision pretty easy for us, we had them cut down.  Growing up, we had similar trees around our house and one did fall on our roof during a bad storm.  Everyone was fine, but it was still not something I really wanted to experience again. :)  We had the two trees taken down and a couple of trees trimmed in the back of our house.  We discovered that one of the Maples in the back of our house was split down the middle and they told us, it was not if the tree would come down, but when would it come down.  We had that fixed as well.  The same day as the tree cutting, Ralph went down into the basement and discovered that it was flooding a bit.  We had the City come out and determine that the city lines were not backed up, so then I called a plumber.  The plumber was great, but the issue was, we could not find the clean out pipe.  I called the prior owner and he said they had never had a problem and he did not know where it was.  The basement is mostly finished, so in order to find it, holes had to be made.  The plumber felt bad putting six holes in our walls in the basement, so he did not charge me part of the labor.  He ended up finding a rag and some tree roots that were causing the problem.  Just prior to this, when we got home from vacation, Nick and I sat on the couch after unpacking, and a mouse ran out from under the TV stand.  With the help of a cement repair man, we figured out where they had come in and Nick got that all sealed up.  We ended up catching 3 mice in all.  Nick's Uncle Paul had to come help with one of them because it was still alive in the glue trap and I could not bring myself to dispose of it and Nick was at work.  It come in really handy to live so close to family!  I think it was at this point in time that we both started to question if we had bought the right house though.  After this though, everything settled down and we are still happy we bought it.  It was a rough couple of weeks though.

 They were boxing with koozies.
 A little twin love
Watching a little TV on the bench in our dinning room

 The Before

The view out our front window.  They had already taken some branches down, but the view was pretty limited.
It was a neat process to watch.  The neighbors were even out watching

The After.  Prior to them coming, we took out all of the front shrubs too.  Next year we will do landscaping.  It is much nicer not having the big trees there.
Not too bad of a flood, but still, water in the basement is not good
The holes and the clean out. :)
